HOW TO MAKE A HOME MANICURE

Many people believe that a quality manicure can only be obtained in a beauty salon. However, by following the right techniques and using the right tools, you can achieve a professional result at home. Here are some tips on how to make a home manicure as good as in a salon.

  1. Preparing tools and materials
Before you start your manicure, make sure you have all the necessary tools and materials:

Nail file
Nail polishing buff
Nail clippers or nail clippers
Poucher or orange cuticle stick
Cuticle cream or oil
Nail polish base
Coloured nail polish or gel polish
Top coat
Acetone-free nail polish remover
Cotton discs

  1. Preparing your nails
The first thing to do is to prepare your nails. Remove the old nail polish with an acetone-free nail polish remover to avoid drying out your nails. Then, shape your nails to the desired shape with a nail file. Remember, it is best to file your nails in one direction to avoid splitting them.
  2. Cuticle care
Soak your hands in warm water for a few minutes to soften the cuticle. Use a poucher or orange stick to gently push the cuticle back. If there is excess skin, gently trim it off with cuticle scissors. Apply cuticle cream or oil to moisturise the skin around your nails.
  3. Polishing and buffing
Use a buff to polish your nails to make them smooth and even. This will help the base coat and polish to adhere to the nail plate better and last longer.
  4. Applying the base coat
Always start your manicure with a base coat. A base coat protects the nail plate from yellowing and provides better adhesion of the coloured polish to the nail. Apply a thin layer of base coat and allow it to dry.
  5. Applying coloured lacquer
After the base has dried, apply the coloured polish. For rich colour and even coverage, apply two thin coats of nail polish, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. Try to apply the nail polish smoothly, starting from the centre of the nail and working towards the edges.
  6. Top Coat
Finish your manicure with a top coat. A top coat not only adds shine but also protects the nail polish from scratches and chipping, making it last longer. Apply a thin layer of top coat and allow it to dry well.
  7. Care and moisturising
After finishing your manicure, moisturise your hands with a cream or lotion. This will help keep your skin soft and well-moisturised. Remember to also use cuticle oil regularly to keep your cuticles healthy.
